The MERIT BRASS 6008-1800 is a welded stainless steel pipe nipple designed for use in piping systems that require corrosion resistance and reliable pressure containment. Built to Schedule 40 wall thickness and manufactured from Grade 316/316L stainless steel, this nipple delivers the dual-certified material chemistry that plumbers and pipefitters rely on for aggressive-fluid and high-moisture environments. The 1/2 inch pipe size makes it a common fitting in both residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC condensate, and process-fluid applications. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors are the primary installers.
This pipe nipple is suited for potable water, chemical drainage, steam, and process piping applications where standard carbon steel or brass fittings are not appropriate due to corrosion concerns. The 316/316L dual-grade material is particularly well-regarded in marine, coastal, food-service, and chemical-handling environments. Schedule 40 wall thickness meets widely adopted pressure ratings for 1/2 inch pipe runs in both above-ground and concealed installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/2 inch Schedule 40 stainless steel piping systems using standard NPT threaded connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC and ASME B31 piping code requirements. Shut off system pressure and drain the line before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Apply a listed thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service fluid before threading the nipple into fittings. Avoid over-tightening stainless steel threads, as galling can occur without proper anti-seize or thread sealant application.
