The MERIT BRASS 6006-1800 is a welded stainless steel pipe nipple designed for use in threaded piping systems where corrosion resistance and pressure integrity are required. Built to Schedule 40 wall thickness and manufactured from Grade 316/316L stainless steel, this nipple delivers reliable performance in fluid handling, process, and industrial plumbing applications. The 316L designation indicates a low-carbon alloy, which reduces the risk of sensitization during welding and improves resistance to intergranular corrosion. Plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians use this type of fitting to extend or connect threaded pipe runs.
This pipe nipple is suited for residential and commercial plumbing systems, industrial process piping, marine environments, and chemical handling lines where standard carbon steel or brass fittings are not appropriate. The 3/8 inch pipe size fits common threaded connections in small-diameter piping runs. Grade 316/316L material makes it a practical choice wherever chloride exposure or elevated moisture levels are a concern.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 3/8 inch Schedule 40 threaded stainless steel piping systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service media before threading the nipple into the fitting. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as stainless steel threads are susceptible to galling. Depressurize and drain the line before removing or installing any threaded pipe component.
