The MERIT BRASS 6004-1200 is a Schedule 40 stainless steel pipe nipple sized for 1/4 inch pipe thread connections. Manufactured from Grade 316/316L stainless steel using a welded construction, this nipple delivers reliable corrosion resistance in demanding fluid and gas piping applications. The dual-grade 316/316L designation means the material meets both standard and low-carbon specifications, making it suitable for welded assemblies where heat-affected zone corrosion is a concern. Plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians use this type of fitting when system requirements call for stainless steel over carbon steel or brass.
This nipple is well suited for residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC hydronic systems, chemical handling lines, and food-service or sanitary piping where corrosion resistance and strength are required. The 1/4 inch pipe size fits standard NPT threaded fittings and valves. Schedule 40 wall thickness meets common pressure requirements for low-to-medium pressure service lines. It installs wherever a short stainless steel threaded connector is needed between valves, fittings, or equipment ports.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 1/4 inch NPT threaded piping systems requiring Schedule 40 stainless steel components.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system before removing or installing any threaded pipe fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for stainless steel and the intended service fluid. Do not over-tighten threaded stainless steel fittings, as galling can occur on stainless threads without proper lubricant or anti-seize compound.
