The MERIT BRASS 6002-800 is a stainless steel pipe nipple designed for threaded piping systems in plumbing, HVAC, and industrial applications. Manufactured from Grade 316 and 316L stainless steel using welded construction, it provides reliable corrosion resistance in demanding environments including wet, chemical-exposure, and marine-adjacent installations. The nipple features a 1/8-inch pipe size with Schedule 40 wall thickness, making it suitable for moderate-pressure fluid and gas service. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians install this type of fitting when connecting pipe runs, equipment ports, or instrumentation taps that require stainless material for longevity and code compliance.
This pipe nipple is well suited for residential and light commercial piping systems where corrosion resistance is a priority. Typical applications include chemical feed lines, steam service, food-grade or sanitary piping, coastal installations, and any threaded connection point where carbon steel would be vulnerable to corrosion. The 1/8-inch size is commonly used for instrument ports, gauge connections, chemical injection points, and small-diameter branch connections. Its Schedule 40 wall thickness meets standard pressure requirements for most low- to moderate-pressure service lines.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 1/8-inch NPT threaded piping systems requiring Schedule 40 stainless steel pipe nipples.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC codes. Shut off and depressurize the affected line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant rated for stainless steel and compatible with the service fluid. Avoid over-tightening threaded connections on stainless fittings, as galling can occur without proper lubrication or anti-seize compound.
