The MERIT BRASS 6002-4800 is a welded stainless steel pipe nipple designed for use in piping systems that demand corrosion resistance and reliable pressure containment. Sized at 1/8 inch pipe, it conforms to Schedule 40 wall thickness and is manufactured from Grade 316 and 316L stainless steel. The dual-grade designation indicates low carbon content, which helps resist sensitization during welding or high-temperature exposure. This nipple is a standard threaded fitting used by licensed plumbers and pipefitters to extend, connect, or adapt pipe runs in fluid or gas handling systems.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC condensate and process lines, chemical handling, and marine or coastal installations where chloride exposure makes carbon steel a poor choice. Grade 316 316L stainless steel performs reliably in wet, corrosive, or sanitary environments. It is a common choice in food service, pharmaceutical, and industrial process piping where contamination resistance and material traceability are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-installation fitting for 1/8 inch Schedule 40 stainless steel piping systems using standard NPT threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Isolate and depressurize the system before removing any existing fitting or nipple. Use an appropriate thread sealant rated for stainless steel and compatible with the media being conveyed. Avoid over-torquing threaded connections, as stainless steel threads are more susceptible to galling than carbon steel.
