The MERIT BRASS 4548-450 is a seamless stainless steel pipe nipple designed for high-pressure and corrosion-resistant piping applications. Built to Schedule 80 wall thickness and manufactured from Grade 304/304L stainless steel, this nipple delivers the added strength and material integrity required in demanding plumbing, process, and mechanical systems. The seamless construction eliminates weld seams, reducing potential failure points under pressure or thermal cycling. At 3 inches pipe size with a matching 3-inch thread size, it fits standard NPT threaded assemblies and is a routine component for licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on industrial, commercial, or heavy-duty mechanical installations.
This pipe nipple is suited for use in commercial and industrial piping systems where corrosion resistance and pressure rating are critical. Common applications include chemical lines, steam and hot-water distribution, food-grade process piping, and marine or coastal mechanical systems where 304/304L stainless steel is specified. The Schedule 80 rating makes it appropriate for higher-pressure service compared to standard Schedule 40 fittings, and the seamless build supports use in systems subject to vibration or repeated thermal expansion.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 3-inch Schedule 80 stainless steel threaded piping systems requiring Grade 304 or 304L material specification.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or ASME B31 piping codes. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Use appropriate stainless-compatible thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium. Avoid over-tightening NPT threads, as stainless steel is susceptible to galling — use proper anti-seize compound when required by the application.
