The MERIT BRASS 4502-150 is a seamless stainless steel pipe nipple sized at 1/8 inch, manufactured from Grade 304/304L stainless steel and produced to Schedule 80 wall thickness. Schedule 80 construction provides greater wall thickness and pressure-handling capacity compared to Schedule 40, making this nipple suitable for demanding service conditions. The dual-grade 304/304L designation means it meets both standard and low-carbon requirements, offering good corrosion resistance in a wide range of fluid and gas service applications. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors typically specify and install this type of fitting in commercial and industrial piping systems.
This nipple is used in plumbing, HVAC, and industrial process piping where 1/8 inch threaded connections are required. Its stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for corrosive environments, high-purity fluid lines, or installations where carbon steel fittings are not acceptable. Typical applications include instrument connections, gauge tapping points, chemical feed lines, and steam service fittings where a small-diameter, high-strength threaded nipple is needed.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/8 inch Schedule 80 threaded stainless steel piping systems. Compatible with standard NPT-threaded fittings, valves, and equipment ports sized at 1/8 inch.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or ASME B31.3 for process piping. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Apply an appropriate thread sealant rated for stainless steel and the intended service fluid. Avoid over-torquing stainless steel threads, as galling can occur — use proper anti-seize compound or PTFE tape rated for the service conditions.
