The MERIT BRASS 4008-3600 is a Schedule 40 stainless steel pipe nipple designed for threaded piping systems in plumbing, HVAC, industrial, and process applications. Manufactured from Grade 304/304L stainless steel using a welded construction, this 1/2-inch nipple delivers corrosion resistance suitable for water, steam, and a broad range of chemical service environments. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting where standard carbon steel or brass nipples would be vulnerable to rust or chemical attack. The Schedule 40 wall thickness meets standard pressure ratings for residential and light commercial service lines.
This nipple is used in residential and commercial piping systems where stainless steel is required by code, system design, or service conditions. Common applications include water supply lines, compressed air distribution, steam service, chemical transfer, and HVAC hydronic systems. The 1/2-inch pipe size is one of the most common sizes in residential and light commercial trade work, fitting standard NPT fittings and valves throughout the industry.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 40 threaded piping systems using 1/2-inch NPT connections in plumbing, HVAC, and industrial applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the piping system fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium before making up the joint. Do not overtighten threaded stainless fittings, as galling of the threads can occur if excessive torque is applied without lubrication.
