The MERIT BRASS 4002-1800 is a welded stainless steel pipe nipple designed for use in fluid and gas piping systems where corrosion resistance and mechanical strength are required. Sized at 1/8 inch pipe, it is manufactured to Schedule 40 wall thickness from Grade 304/304L stainless steel, providing reliable performance in both standard and low-carbon applications. The welded construction meets common trade requirements for threaded pipe assembly in residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC, and industrial piping work. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians are the typical installers.
This nipple is suited for small-diameter threaded piping runs where stainless steel is specified for corrosion resistance or sanitary requirements. Common applications include instrument connections, gauge lines, low-pressure steam lines, chemical feed systems, and general-purpose pipe assemblies. The 1/8 inch size is frequently used in pilot lines, pressure tap connections, and small-bore utility piping in both residential and light commercial settings. Grade 304L dual certification makes it suitable where post-weld corrosion resistance is a concern.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for standard 1/8 inch NPT threaded pipe systems requiring Schedule 40 stainless steel nipples.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC or IFGC code requirements for the service type. Shut off and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as stainless steel threads can gall under excessive force.
