The MERIT BRASS 3904-1175 is a straight steam siphon with male pipe thread (MPT) connections, constructed from 304 stainless steel. This fitting is designed to protect pressure gauges and other instrumentation from direct contact with high-temperature steam by condensing the steam into a water seal within the siphon loop. The 0.25-inch thread size and 5.75-inch body length make it suitable for use in boiler rooms, steam distribution systems, and process piping installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting as part of gauge protection assemblies.
This steam siphon is used in residential and commercial steam heating systems, as well as light industrial process piping where steam pressure gauges require protection from heat damage. The straight body configuration suits installations where a pigtail or coiled siphon does not fit the available clearance. It threads directly into gauge ports using standard MPT connections, making it compatible with common gauge manifold configurations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for steam pressure gauge assemblies in residential and commercial steam piping systems with 0.25-inch MPT gauge port connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes. Shut down the steam system and allow full pressure bleed-off before removing or installing any siphon or gauge fitting. Use appropriate thread sealant rated for steam service when making MPT connections. Do not overtighten threaded fittings into gauge ports, as this can damage gauge threads or crack the gauge body.
