The MERIT BRASS 3614D-3220 is a reducing pipe bushing designed for threaded pipe systems requiring a reliable, corrosion-resistant connection. It reduces from a 2-inch male NPT thread to a 1-1/4-inch female NPT thread and is rated to 3,000 psi, making it suitable for high-pressure fluid and gas line applications. Constructed from 316 and 316L stainless steel, this bushing delivers strong resistance to corrosion, pitting, and chloride attack. The overall length is approximately 1-3/64 inches. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in industrial, marine, chemical, and process piping systems where standard carbon steel or brass fittings are not appropriate for the service environment.
This bushing is used in applications where a pipe or component with a 1-1/4-inch female NPT inlet must be connected to a 2-inch threaded pipe or fitting. It is well suited for residential, commercial, and light industrial systems handling water, steam, compressed air, or compatible process fluids. The 316 and 316L stainless steel construction makes it a preferred choice in corrosive or sanitary environments, including marine installations, food processing lines, and chemical piping. The hex design allows for standard wrench engagement during installation and removal.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for threaded stainless steel pipe systems using standard NPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing and piping codes, including IPC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service fluid and pressure before making up the joint. Do not over-tighten; use a calibrated torque approach appropriate for stainless steel threads to avoid galling.
