The MERIT BRASS 3614D-1204 is a threaded pipe bushing used to reduce a 3/4-inch male connection down to a 1/4-inch female connection within a piping system. It features a male NPT (MNPT) inlet and a female NPT (FNPT) outlet, making it a straightforward reducer fitting for joining pipe or fittings of different sizes. Constructed from 316/316L stainless steel, it is rated to 3,000 psi and measures 5/8 inch in length. This bushing is installed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians in applications where corrosion resistance and pressure integrity are required.
This bushing is well suited for use in corrosive environments, fluid handling systems, chemical processing lines, and marine or offshore installations where 316/316L stainless steel is specified. The 3/4 x 1/4-inch reduction is a common size used in instrumentation, process piping, and utility connections where a downstream line or component requires a smaller thread size than the upstream supply port.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded pipe bushing for use in standard NPT-threaded piping systems requiring a 3/4-inch male to 1/4-inch female reduction in 316/316L stainless steel.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter. Before installation, isolate and depressurize the system completely and drain any residual fluid from the line. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the MNPT threads in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC or IFGC. Do not over-tighten, as stainless steel threads can gall — use proper technique and tooling to achieve a secure, leak-free connection.
