The MERIT BRASS 3614D-0402 is a threaded pipe bushing designed to reduce or adapt pipe connections in pressurized fluid and gas systems. Constructed from 316 and 316L stainless steel, this bushing delivers strong corrosion resistance in harsh or wet environments. It features a male NPT (MNPT) inlet and a female NPT (FNPT) outlet, allowing it to thread directly into standard NPT fittings. With a pressure rating of 3,000 psi, it is suited for demanding industrial and commercial piping applications. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors typically install this type of fitting in process piping, instrumentation lines, and hydraulic or pneumatic assemblies.
This bushing is used in applications where a size or thread-type transition is needed within an NPT piping system. The 1/4 inch fitting size makes it appropriate for small-bore lines in residential and light commercial plumbing, industrial process systems, and instrumentation connections. Its 316 and 316L stainless steel construction makes it a reliable choice where exposure to corrosive media, moisture, or chemicals is a concern. Typical install scenarios include connecting gauges, valves, or instruments to main process lines.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard NPT threaded piping systems requiring a 1/4 inch bushing with MNPT x FNPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable IPC or ASME B31 piping codes. De-pressurize and isolate the line completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten, as this can crack stainless steel fittings or damage female threads in mating components.
