The MERIT BRASS 3612D-0604 is a threaded pipe reducer fitting designed to transition from a 3/8-inch female pipe thread to a 1/4-inch female pipe thread in a single inline connection. Manufactured from 316/316L stainless steel, it delivers strong resistance to corrosion and pitting in demanding environments. Rated to 3,000 psi, this reducer handles high-pressure service in industrial, commercial, and mechanical piping systems. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors typically install this fitting during new construction or system modifications where a direct pipe size reduction is required without adding external hardware.
This reducer is suited for use in fluid handling, process piping, and compressed gas distribution systems where stainless steel construction is specified for corrosion resistance or sanitary requirements. The FNPT x FNPT end connections accept standard tapered pipe threads on both ends, making it compatible with common threaded piping assemblies found in commercial mechanical rooms, industrial process lines, and marine or chemical-exposure environments.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded reducer for use in standard NPT piping systems requiring a 3/8-inch to 1/4-inch female-to-female reduction in 316/316L stainless steel construction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC requirements for the intended service. Depressurize and isolate the piping system fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads being engaged; do not apply sealant inside the female threads of this fitting. Avoid over-tightening, which can stress the threads and compromise the pressure seal.
