The MERIT BRASS 3414D-3204 is a reducing pipe bushing designed to transition between a 2-inch male NPT connection and a 1/4-inch female NPT connection in threaded piping systems. Constructed from 304/304L stainless steel, it delivers a pressure rating of 3,000 psi, making it suitable for demanding fluid and gas handling applications. The hex-body design allows standard wrench installation without special tooling. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors typically specify this fitting where corrosion resistance and high-pressure integrity are required in stainless threaded systems.
This bushing is used in industrial, commercial, and mechanical piping systems where a large-diameter male threaded port must be reduced to accept a smaller female threaded line or instrument connection. Typical applications include process piping, hydraulic systems, instrumentation taps, and plumbing headers where 304 or 304L stainless steel is the specified material of construction. The 2 x 1/4-inch reduction is commonly used when tapping small-bore instrumentation, gauges, or bleed ports off larger main lines.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting for use in standard NPT piping systems requiring a 2-inch male to 1/4-inch female stainless steel reducing bushing.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes, including IPC and ASME B31 piping standards. Shut off and depressurize the system fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium to all NPT threads before makeup. Do not over-torque stainless steel fittings, as galling of threads can result in leakage or fitting damage.
