The MERIT BRASS 3414D-2008 is a threaded pipe bushing designed to reduce a 1-1/4 inch female port down to a 1/2 inch male connection. Constructed from 304/304L stainless steel, this fitting delivers corrosion resistance suitable for demanding fluid and gas handling systems. It carries a pressure rating of 3,000 psi and uses a male NPT (MNPT) outlet by female NPT (FNPT) inlet connection. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of bushing when adapting between pipe sizes within threaded piping assemblies. The dual-grade 304/304L material makes it suitable for both standard and low-carbon applications where weld decay resistance matters.
This bushing is used in residential and commercial piping systems where a reduction between a 1-1/4 inch and 1/2 inch threaded port is required. Typical applications include water supply lines, compressed air systems, hydraulic assemblies, and process piping where stainless steel is specified for corrosion resistance or sanitary requirements. It is sold and packaged individually, making it straightforward to specify per connection point on a job.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded pipe bushing for use in standard NPT threaded piping systems requiring a 1-1/4 inch to 1/2 inch reduction in stainless steel.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC or IFGC guidelines depending on the service fluid. Shut off and fully depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not over-torque stainless steel fittings, as galling of threads can occur.
