The MERIT BRASS 3414D-1606 is a threaded pipe bushing designed to reduce a 1-inch male connection down to a 3/8-inch female connection in pressurized piping systems. Constructed from 304/304L stainless steel, this bushing delivers strong corrosion resistance in demanding environments. It carries a 3,000 psi pressure rating, making it suitable for high-pressure fluid and gas lines. The MNPT x FNPT end connections allow direct thread-in installation without additional fittings. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this fitting type.
This bushing is used in residential, commercial, and light industrial piping applications where a pipe diameter reduction is needed at a threaded junction. Typical scenarios include connecting smaller-diameter instrument lines, gauge ports, or branch lines to a larger main. The 304/304L stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for water, steam, air, and many chemical service lines where corrosion resistance is a requirement.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded pipe bushing for use in standard NPT piping systems requiring a 1-inch to 3/8-inch reducing connection at 3,000 psi service pressure.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or applicable ASME B31 piping standards. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten, as stainless steel threads are susceptible to galling.
