The MERIT BRASS 3412D-3220 is a threaded pipe reducer fitting designed to transition between a 2-inch and a 1-1/4-inch pipe connection in pressurized fluid systems. Constructed from 304/304L stainless steel, this fitting delivers strong corrosion resistance suitable for demanding service environments. Both ends are female NPT (FNPT), allowing straightforward threaded installation without welding. Rated to 3,000 psi, it is built for high-pressure applications in plumbing, process piping, and industrial systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers, though qualified HVAC technicians and industrial maintenance personnel may encounter it in hydronic or process lines.
This reducer is suited for residential, commercial, and light industrial piping systems where a reduction from 2-inch to 1-1/4-inch pipe is required. The dual-grade 304/304L construction makes it appropriate for applications involving water, mild chemicals, or other fluids compatible with austenitic stainless steel. Typical install scenarios include manifold connections, branch line reductions, and equipment inlet fittings where threaded pipe is the standard joining method.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded reducer for use in 2-inch to 1-1/4-inch NPT piping systems where 304 or 304L stainless steel fittings are specified.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter following applicable IPC or ASME B31 piping code requirements. Depressurize and drain the line completely before removing any existing fitting or installing this reducer. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service fluid and pressure before making up the joint. Do not over-tighten threaded connections, as stainless steel threads are susceptible to galling.
