The MERIT BRASS 3412D-2404 is a threaded pipe reducer fitting designed to connect two pipes of different diameters in a pressurized fluid or gas system. It transitions from a 1-1/2 inch female NPT inlet to a 1/4 inch female NPT outlet and is rated for 3000 psi working pressure. The body is machined from 304/304L dual-certified stainless steel, offering strong resistance to corrosion in wet, chemical, and moderate-temperature service environments. Plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians install this type of fitting in compressed air, hydraulic, process piping, and fluid transfer lines where a size reduction and permanent threaded connection are required.
This reducer is suited for residential, commercial, and light industrial piping applications. The FNPT x FNPT configuration accepts standard tapered pipe threads on both ends, making it compatible with common threaded pipe assemblies. It is appropriate for use in water supply systems, instrumentation lines, pneumatic circuits, and general-purpose process piping where stainless steel material is specified for corrosion resistance or sanitary requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded replacement reducer for standard NPT piping systems requiring a 1-1/2 inch to 1/4 inch diameter reduction in stainless steel service.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter following applicable IPC or ASME B31 piping code requirements. Depressurize and isolate the line completely before removing any existing fittings or installing this reducer. Apply a suitable thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male NPT threads being engaged, and tighten to hand-tight plus the appropriate number of turns per the sealant manufacturer guidance. Do not overtighten stainless steel threaded fittings, as galling of the threads can occur.
