The MERIT BRASS 2124-350 is a red brass seamless pipe nipple designed for use in commercial plumbing, gas, oil, steam, and water distribution systems. Manufactured to ASTM B687-88/B456 specifications, this Schedule 40 nipple measures 1-1/2 inches in diameter and 3-1/2 inches in overall length with male threaded connections on both ends. Red brass offers strong corrosion resistance against water, heat, salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water systems. The relative softness of the metal supports a tight thread seal and straightforward installation, making it a reliable choice for licensed plumbers and pipefitters working in both new construction and retrofit applications.
This nipple is suited for commercial and residential plumbing systems, OEM equipment assemblies, and fluid handling applications involving water, oil, gas, and steam. The male-threaded-by-male-threaded configuration allows direct connection between fittings, valves, and pipe sections in standard 1-1/2-inch Schedule 40 piping systems. Its seamless construction reduces the risk of weak points along the body, which is particularly important in pressurized service lines. Sold in quantities of 10 per box, this nipple is well suited for contractors stocking trade supply for multi-unit or commercial projects.
Designed for use in 1-1/2-inch Schedule 40 piping systems across commercial, plumbing, OEM, water, oil, gas, and steam applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) where relevant. Shut off supply lines and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Use appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape on male threads and tighten to hand-snug before applying final wrench turns. Avoid over-tightening, which can stress the brass threads and compromise the seal.
