The MERIT BRASS 2124-1000 is a red brass pipe nipple threaded on both ends, designed for use in plumbing, HVAC, and fluid-handling systems where a short, rigid pipe connection is needed between two threaded fittings. Sized at 1-1/2 inches NPT with a 10-inch overall length, this nipple provides a reliable, leak-resistant joint when properly assembled. Red brass construction offers good corrosion resistance in water service and is compatible with a range of system fluids. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers, though HVAC technicians frequently use brass nipples in hydronic and refrigerant piping assemblies.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing distribution systems, hydronic heating and cooling piping, gas supply lines where brass is code-approved, and general fluid transfer applications. The 1-1/2 inch NPT thread size is common in main distribution runs, boiler connections, water heater supply and return lines, and manifold assemblies. The 10-inch overall length makes it useful where a longer rigid span is needed between fittings or equipment ports without cutting and threading field pipe.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for any system using standard 1-1/2 inch NPT threaded connections in brass or compatible metallic piping assemblies.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC or local jurisdiction requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male NPT threads before assembly — do not overtighten, as red brass can be damaged by excessive torque. Verify that the fluid, temperature, and pressure ratings of the system are appropriate for brass construction before installation.
