The MERIT BRASS 2016-1200BSPT is a red brass pipe nipple threaded on both ends, sized at 1 inch BSPT with a 12-inch overall length. Constructed from red brass, this nipple provides reliable corrosion resistance in fluid-handling and gas-distribution piping systems. The British Standard Pipe Taper (BSPT) thread form is a tapered thread standard commonly used in international plumbing, hydraulic, and industrial applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this nipple to extend or connect piping runs where a full-length, double-end threaded fitting is required. At 1.715 pounds, the fitting is solid and well-suited for permanent installations in both above-ground and accessible in-wall assemblies.
This nipple is intended for use in water, gas, steam, or compatible fluid service lines where BSPT threading is specified. At 12 inches in overall length with threading on both ends, it serves as a close-out extension between two female-threaded fittings such as couplings, elbows, tees, or valves. It is appropriate for residential and light commercial plumbing applications wherever BSPT-threaded components are specified, including imported equipment and systems built to British or international piping standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-inch BSPT-threaded piping systems in plumbing, hydraulic, and industrial fluid-handling applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium before making up the connection. Do not use pipe wrenches on the fitting body beyond what is needed to achieve a leak-free joint, as over-tightening can crack or distort brass fittings.
