The MERIT BRASS 01613-6424 is a Schedule 10 eccentric reducer designed for butt weld installation in stainless steel piping systems. It transitions a 4-inch pipe down to a 1-1/2-inch pipe with an offset centerline, which keeps one side of the fitting flat. This eccentric geometry prevents air pockets in liquid lines and prevents liquid accumulation in gas or steam lines depending on orientation. The body is machined from 316L stainless steel, offering strong resistance to corrosion and pitting in aggressive process, chemical, and sanitary environments. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers for this type of fitting.
This eccentric reducer is suited for use in process piping, industrial fluid systems, sanitary lines, and commercial plumbing installations where a flat-bottom or flat-top transition is required between different pipe sizes. The 316L grade is commonly specified in food processing, pharmaceutical, marine, and chemical handling applications where standard 304 stainless may not provide adequate corrosion resistance. The butt weld end connections make this fitting appropriate for fully welded, leak-tight systems operating under pressure.
Designed as an OEM-style butt weld eccentric reducer for Schedule 10 stainless steel piping systems with a 4-inch to 1-1/2-inch transition requirement.
Installation requires a qualified pipefitter or licensed plumber with orbital or manual TIG welding capability appropriate for 316L stainless steel. Depressurize and drain the system fully before cutting into an existing line. Follow applicable codes including ASME B31.3 for process piping or ASME B31.1 for power piping when specifying weld procedures and inspection requirements. Do not use on systems exceeding the pressure-temperature rating of Schedule 10 316L stainless fittings.
