The MERIT BRASS 01613-4820 is a Schedule 10 eccentric reducer designed for butt weld installation in stainless steel piping systems. Sized at 3 x 1-1/4 inches, this fitting transitions flow from a larger to a smaller pipe diameter while offsetting the centerline — a critical characteristic for pump suction lines and horizontal runs where air pockets and drainage must be controlled. Constructed from 316L stainless steel, it offers low carbon content that minimizes carbide precipitation during welding, making it well suited for corrosive service environments. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial pipe welders are the primary installers.
This eccentric reducer is appropriate for commercial and industrial piping applications including process piping, HVAC chilled and condenser water systems, chemical transfer lines, and sanitary or marine installations where 316L stainless steel is specified for corrosion resistance. The butt weld end connections on both ends allow full-penetration welds for a flush, high-integrity joint. Schedule 10 wall thickness suits moderate-pressure service in a range of wet mechanical systems.
Designed as an OEM-style butt weld eccentric reducer for Schedule 10 stainless steel piping systems requiring a 3 x 1-1/4 inch transition.
Installation should be performed by a qualified pipefitter or certified pipe welder following applicable codes such as ASME B31.3 for process piping or ASME B31.9 for building services piping. Shut down and depressurize the piping system completely before cutting into existing lines. Fit and tack in proper orientation — flat side down for horizontal pump suction runs, flat side up for gravity drainage applications — before completing full-penetration butt welds. Post-weld passivation of 316L stainless steel joints is standard practice in corrosive service environments.
