The MERIT BRASS 01613-4016 is a Schedule 10 eccentric reducer fitting designed to connect pipe runs of differing diameters while maintaining a flat bottom alignment. Fabricated from 316L stainless steel, this fitting offers corrosion resistance suited to demanding process, industrial, and mechanical piping applications. The butt weld end connections on both ends allow fusion into the pipeline for a permanent, full-penetration joint. At 0.42 pounds, it is lightweight relative to its 2-1/2 to 1 inch transition size. Licensed pipefitters and welders are the primary installers for this type of fitting.
This eccentric reducer is used where a gradual diameter reduction is required without centering the pipe bores on the same axis. Common applications include pump inlet piping where the flat-bottom orientation prevents air pockets, as well as horizontal drain and process lines in industrial, commercial, and marine environments where 316L stainless steel is specified for chloride or chemical resistance. The Schedule 10 wall thickness suits moderate-pressure piping systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 10 stainless steel butt weld piping systems requiring a 2-1/2 to 1 inch eccentric diameter transition.
Installation requires a qualified pipefitter or certified welder. Depressurize and drain the piping system completely before cutting in the fitting. Butt weld joints must be prepared to appropriate pipe end specifications and welded per applicable codes such as ASME B31.3 for process piping. Avoid grinding or contaminating the stainless steel surface with carbon steel tools to prevent corrosion.
