The MERIT BRASS 01613-3208 is a Schedule 10 eccentric reducer fitting designed for piping systems that require an offset centerline between pipe runs. Manufactured from 316L stainless steel, this fitting accepts butt weld connections on both ends and transitions from a 2-inch pipe to a 0.5-inch pipe. The eccentric geometry keeps the bottom of the pipe level, which is critical for drainage control and preventing air pockets in process or fluid-handling lines. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in stainless steel butt-weld piping assemblies where sanitary, corrosion-resistant, or high-purity service is required.
This fitting is suited for commercial and industrial piping applications including food processing, chemical handling, pharmaceutical process lines, and marine or coastal installations where chloride resistance is a priority. The 316L low-carbon grade is preferred in welded assemblies because it resists sensitization and intergranular corrosion at the heat-affected zone. It is appropriate for above-ground and in-wall Schedule 10 stainless steel systems where an eccentric transition is needed to maintain a flat bottom for self-draining runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for Schedule 10 stainless steel butt-weld piping systems requiring a 2-inch to 0.5-inch eccentric reduction.
Installation requires a certified welder or licensed pipefitter qualified for stainless steel butt-weld procedures. Depressurize and drain the line completely before cutting into any existing system. Follow applicable codes including ASME B31.3 for process piping or ASME B31.1 for power piping when selecting weld procedures and inspection requirements. Avoid using carbon steel tools on the fitting surface to prevent iron contamination that can compromise corrosion resistance.
