The MERIT BRASS 01613-2016 is a Schedule 10 eccentric reducer fitting designed for butt weld installation in stainless steel piping systems. Constructed from 316L stainless steel, this fitting transitions pipe diameter from 1-1/4 inches to 1 inch while maintaining an offset centerline -- the defining characteristic of an eccentric reducer. That flat-side geometry allows the fitting to sit flush against a surface or rack, which is critical for liquid drainage and pump inlet piping where air pockets must be avoided. Butt weld fittings must be installed by a qualified welder or licensed pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as ASME B31.3 or ASME B31.1 for process and power piping. Depressurize and drain the system fully before cutting into any existing piping. Proper fit-up, tack welding, and full-penetration welds are required to maintain pressure integrity and meet inspection standards. On pump suction lines, orient the flat side of the eccentric reducer upward to prevent air lock.
