The MERIT BRASS 01613-1208 is a pipe eccentric reducer designed to transition flow between 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch pipe in stainless steel piping systems. Constructed from 316L stainless steel, this fitting uses a butt weld end connection on both ends and is rated for Schedule 10 wall thickness. The eccentric geometry offsets the centerlines of the two pipe sizes, which keeps the bottom of the pipe flat — a critical feature for drainage and pump suction lines where air pockets or pooling must be avoided. Licensed pipefitters and mechanical contractors install this fitting in process, plumbing, and industrial applications.
This eccentric reducer is suited for residential and commercial mechanical systems, as well as light industrial process piping, wherever a reduction from 3/4-inch to 1/2-inch pipe is required. The 316L material grade provides enhanced corrosion resistance compared to standard 316 stainless, making it appropriate for mildly corrosive media, coastal environments, and sanitary or chemical service lines. Butt weld ends require proper fit-up and qualified orbital or manual TIG welding in the field.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 10 stainless steel butt weld piping systems using 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch nominal pipe sizes.
Installation requires a qualified pipefitter or welder trained in stainless steel TIG or orbital butt weld procedures. Depressurize and drain the line fully before cutting in or removing an existing fitting. Maintain proper purge gas on the weld ID to prevent oxidation of the 316L material. Follow applicable codes including ASME B31.1 or B31.3 depending on service classification.
