The MERIT BRASS 01612-4820 is a concentric pipe reducer fitting manufactured from 316L stainless steel for reliable performance in demanding piping systems. It transitions a 3-inch pipe down to a 1-1/4-inch pipe using butt weld end connections on both ends, making it suitable for permanent, high-integrity welded assemblies. Built to Schedule 10 wall thickness, this reducer maintains consistent flow alignment along the pipe centerline. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial contractors install this type of fitting in process, mechanical, and utility piping systems where corrosion resistance and clean welded joints are required.
This concentric reducer is intended for use in residential, commercial, and light industrial piping applications where stainless steel construction is specified for corrosion resistance. The butt weld x butt weld end connection style suits installations that require fully welded, flush-face joints with no mechanical fittings. It is well suited for plumbing, process piping, food service, chemical handling, and similar systems where 316L stainless steel is the material of choice. Schedule 10 wall construction keeps weight manageable while meeting common piping system pressure and flow requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 10 stainless steel butt weld piping systems requiring a 3-inch to 1-1/4-inch concentric reduction.
Installation requires a qualified pipefitter or licensed plumber with stainless steel TIG or orbital welding capability. Shut down and depressurize the piping system completely before cutting in or replacing any fitting. Follow applicable codes such as ASME B31.1 or B31.3 for process piping and IAPMO or local plumbing codes for potable or mechanical systems. Do not use carbon steel tools or wire brushes on stainless steel surfaces, as cross-contamination can compromise corrosion resistance.
