The MERIT BRASS 01606-3220 is a 316L stainless steel reducing pipe tee designed for butt weld installation in industrial and commercial piping systems. Sized at 2 x 1-1/4 inches with a Schedule 10 wall, this fitting provides a branch outlet reduction off the run line without requiring threaded or socket connections. The 316L material grade offers low carbon content for improved weld corrosion resistance, making it well suited for high-purity, corrosive, or sanitary fluid handling applications. Licensed pipefitters and plumbers install this fitting in process piping, mechanical rooms, and utility lines where clean, full-penetration welds are required.
This reducing tee is appropriate for Schedule 10 stainless steel pipe systems in both residential and light commercial mechanical applications, as well as in food service, chemical, and marine environments where 316L stainless is specified for its enhanced resistance to chloride corrosion. The butt weld end connection on all three outlets ensures a smooth interior bore with no crevices, supporting hygienic and high-flow service conditions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install fitting for Schedule 10 stainless steel butt weld piping systems requiring a 2 x 1-1/4 inch reducing tee configuration.
Installation requires a licensed pipefitter or qualified welder with experience in TIG or orbital welding of stainless steel pipe. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before cutting in the fitting. Follow applicable IPC or ASME B31.3 process piping codes for weld procedure, inspection, and purge gas requirements when welding 316L stainless. Do not use carbon steel tools on stainless fittings, as cross-contamination can lead to surface corrosion.
