The MERIT BRASS 01413-9632 is a 6 x 2 inch eccentric reducer fitting manufactured from 304L stainless steel. It connects two pipe sections of differing diameters while maintaining one flat side, which allows the bottom of the pipe to remain level during installation. This is a butt weld design, meaning both ends are joined to pipe by full-penetration welds. Rated for Schedule 10 wall thickness, this fitting is suited for low- to medium-pressure piping systems where corrosion resistance and weld integrity are required. Plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial pipe installers typically specify this component in process, mechanical, and utility piping applications.
The eccentric reducer is commonly used in horizontal pipeline runs where drainage slope and alignment control are critical. Its flat-bottom orientation prevents air pockets from forming in liquid service lines and keeps the pipe centerline offset between the two pipe sizes. Typical installations include HVAC chilled water systems, commercial plumbing mains, food and beverage process lines, and industrial fluid handling systems that require stainless steel construction for sanitary or corrosion-resistant service.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 10 stainless steel butt weld piping systems using 6 inch and 2 inch nominal pipe sizes.
Installation requires a qualified pipefitter or welder certified for stainless steel butt weld joints. Depressurize and drain the piping system fully before cutting into any existing line. Weld preparation, fit-up, and purging practices should comply with applicable codes such as ASME B31.1 or B31.3 depending on service classification. Do not use carbon steel tools or wire brushes on the fitting surface, as embedded iron particles can cause corrosion in stainless steel.
