The MERIT BRASS 01413-1208 is a Schedule 10 eccentric reducer fitting designed to connect 3/4-inch pipe to 1/2-inch pipe with offset centerlines, keeping the bottom of the line flat. Constructed from 304L stainless steel, this fitting offers corrosion resistance suitable for demanding piping environments. It uses a butt weld end connection on both ends with a threaded configuration, making it appropriate for welded stainless piping assemblies. Plumbers and pipefitters install this type of reducer where drainage slope, pump inlet alignment, or air pocket prevention are design priorities in process and mechanical piping systems.
This eccentric reducer is suited for residential and light commercial mechanical systems as well as industrial process piping where stainless steel construction is specified. Its Schedule 10 wall thickness makes it a common choice in sanitary, food service, chemical handling, and HVAC hydronic piping applications where lower system pressure ratings are acceptable and weight savings are valued. The butt weld connection requires proper fitup and welding by qualified personnel per applicable piping codes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for Schedule 10 stainless steel pipe systems requiring a 3/4 inch to 1/2 inch eccentric reducing transition with butt weld end connections.
Installation requires a qualified pipefitter or welder familiar with stainless steel butt weld procedures and applicable codes such as ASME B31.1 or B31.3 depending on system service. Depressurize and fully drain the piping system before cutting into any existing line. Proper fitup, purge gas backing, and correct filler material selection are critical when welding 304L stainless to prevent carbide precipitation and maintain corrosion resistance. Do not use carbon steel tools or wire brushes on stainless steel surfaces during fitup or post-weld cleanup.
