The MERIT BRASS 01412-9640 is a Schedule 10 concentric reducer fitting used to transition between 6-inch and 2.5-inch pipe in butt-weld piping systems. Manufactured from 304L stainless steel, this fitting offers reliable corrosion resistance in a wide range of process, industrial, and commercial plumbing applications. The concentric design keeps both pipe centerlines aligned, which is the standard choice for horizontal runs and most vertical installations. Butt-weld end connections on both sides provide a full-penetration weld joint suited for systems requiring a smooth interior bore and leak-tight integrity. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters handle installation on these fittings.
This reducer is suited for commercial and industrial piping systems where a diameter reduction from 6 inches to 2.5 inches is required. Schedule 10 wall thickness makes it appropriate for low-to-moderate pressure service in liquid and gas piping. Common installation environments include mechanical rooms, process piping, food-service or sanitary systems where 304L stainless is specified, and HVAC hydronic distribution lines. The fitting ships as a single unit with a minimum order quantity of one.
Designed as an OEM-style butt-weld concentric reducer for Schedule 10 stainless steel piping systems requiring a 6-inch by 2.5-inch diameter transition.
Installation is performed by a licensed pipefitter or plumber qualified in butt-weld procedures. Depressurize and drain the piping system fully before cutting in the fitting. Butt-weld connections require proper fit-up, tacking, and full-penetration welding per applicable codes such as ASME B31.3 or B31.9. Do not use mechanical or threaded joining methods on the butt-weld ends.
