The MERIT ABRASIVES OLD08834181717 is a full taper cartridge roll designed for precision deburring, blending, and finishing in tight bores, contoured surfaces, and internal passages. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive at 120 grit, this roll delivers consistent fine-grade stock removal and surface refinement. The full taper profile allows the roll to conform to irregular geometries and reach areas that flat sheets or discs cannot access. At a maximum roll diameter of 3/8 inches, it fits standard mandrel-mounted setups used in die grinders and bench-mounted finishing equipment. Metalworkers, fabricators, and maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this product type.
This cartridge roll is suited for use on ferrous and non-ferrous metals in both production and job-shop environments. Typical applications include port matching, weld blending, ID finishing on castings, and surface prep in hard-to-reach areas. The 120 grit fine grade makes it appropriate for intermediate finishing passes where a refined surface finish is required before polishing or coating. It is used with a compatible tapered mandrel mounted to a die grinder or flex-shaft tool at the operator's appropriate speed rating for the roll diameter.
Designed for use with a compatible tapered mandrel and standard die grinder or flex-shaft finishing tool rated for small-diameter cartridge rolls.
Installation is performed by metalworkers and fabricators using standard die grinder equipment. Before mounting, ensure the tool is disconnected from power and the mandrel is clean and undamaged. Thread the cartridge roll fully onto the tapered mandrel before securing to the tool, and verify the operating RPM does not exceed the roll manufacturer's rated maximum for the diameter in use. Inspect the roll for wear or unraveling before each use and replace when abrasive material is depleted.
