The MERIT ABRASIVES 69957399751 is a quick-change coated abrasive disc engineered for use with handheld disc sanders in metalworking and fabrication environments. It measures 1 inch in diameter and runs at a maximum of 40,000 RPM. The disc uses premium aluminum oxide grain on a Y-weight 2-ply polyester backing, which provides the rigidity and durability needed for coarse stock removal, weld blending, and surface conditioning on demanding materials. The 40-grit coarse grade makes it well suited for fast material removal rather than finish work. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical contractors often reach for discs in this class when cleaning welds or prepping pipe and sheet metal surfaces before assembly.
This disc is designed for use on a wide range of metals including 300 and 400 series stainless steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, and titanium. It attaches via a Type P Power-Lock quick-change system, allowing fast disc swaps on handheld disc sanders without additional hardware. The Series R766 construction with special grain coating is intended to extend disc life and maintain a consistent cut rate on moderately demanding metalworking applications. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 100 units per order.
Designed for use with handheld disc sanders equipped with a Type P Power-Lock quick-change system. Suitable for stock removal and surface preparation on 300 series stainless, 400 series stainless, aluminum, brass, bronze, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, and titanium.
Installation and disc changes are typically performed by machinists, fabricators, pipefitters, or mechanical contractors using compatible handheld disc sanders. Always confirm the tool spindle speed does not exceed the disc maximum rating of 40,000 RPM before use. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and replace if any cracking, tearing, or delamination is present. Follow applicable ANSI B7 abrasive safety standards and wear appropriate PPE including eye and face protection during operation.
