The MERIT ABRASIVES 69957399719 is a coated quick-change abrasive disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal surfaces. It uses aluminum oxide abrasive grain bonded to a rigid, X-weight, 2-ply cloth and polyester backing for consistent cut rate and durability under load. The 40-grit coarse grade removes stock quickly, making it well suited for deburring, surface conditioning, and weld cleanup. The Power-Lock Type 3 (TR/Type III) attachment system snaps directly onto compatible quick-change mandrels, allowing fast disc swaps without tools. Rated to 20,000 RPM, this disc handles high-speed handheld disc sanders without delamination or disc failure under normal operating conditions.
This disc is rated for use on a broad range of metals including 300 series stainless, 400 series stainless, aluminum, brass, bronze, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, and titanium. It is intended for handheld disc sander applications in fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and field metalwork environments. Typical tasks include deburring cut edges, cleaning weld zones, and detailing stainless steel and non-ferrous metal surfaces. The coarse 40-grit grade removes material efficiently before stepping to finer finishing grits.
Compatible with handheld disc sanders equipped with a TR (Type III) or Type R quick-change mandrel. Suitable for use on 300 series stainless, 400 series stainless, aluminum, brass, bronze, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, and titanium workpieces.
Installation is performed by metalworkers, fabricators, and maintenance technicians using compatible quick-change mandrels. Confirm the mandrel and tool are rated for at least 20,000 RPM before mounting the disc. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and do not use a disc that shows cracking, delamination, or backing separation. Always wear appropriate eye and face protection and follow ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive disc operation.
