The MERIT ABRASIVES 69957399682 is a coated quick-change abrasive disc designed for use with Power-Lock Type 3 (TR/Type III) handheld disc sanders. At 1 inch in diameter with a 36-grit aluminum oxide abrasive, this disc falls in the extra coarse grade range, making it well suited for aggressive material removal, deburring, and surface preparation. The disc features a two-ply cloth and polyester backing rated at Y-weight, which provides a rigid, durable platform during high-speed grinding. It is rated to a maximum of 40,000 RPM and attaches via a Type R attaching system.
This disc is used in handheld disc sander applications across fabrication, maintenance, and finishing environments. It is appropriate for both residential shop and commercial or industrial settings where fast stock removal or cleaning of metal surfaces is required. The extra coarse 36-grit construction handles demanding applications on a wide range of metals including 300 and 400 series stainless steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, hard and soft carbon steels, and titanium. It is particularly effective for deburring, cleaning, and detailing stainless steel and soft metals.
Designed for use with handheld disc sanders that accept a TR (Type III) / Type R quick-change attaching system. Suitable for material removal and surface preparation on 300 Series Stainless, 400 Series Stainless, Aluminum, Brass, Bronze, Hard Carbon Steels, Soft Carbon Steels, and Titanium.
Installation is performed by the equipment operator or maintenance technician using a compatible Type R quick-change mandrel. Ensure the tool is powered off and disconnected from its power source before changing discs. Confirm the tool's rated RPM meets or exceeds the 40,000 RPM maximum rating of the disc before use. Always inspect the disc for damage before mounting and follow applicable ANSI and tool manufacturer safety guidelines for abrasive disc use.
