The MERIT ABRASIVES 69957399650 is a 3-inch coated quick-change abrasive disc engineered for aggressive material removal on metal surfaces. It uses aluminum oxide grain at 36 grit, placing it in the very coarse grade range, which makes it suitable for heavy deburring, weld prep, and surface conditioning. The disc mounts via a Power-Lock Type 2 (TS/Type S) attaching system and is rated to 20,000 RPM. A 2-ply cloth and polyester backing with Y-weight construction keeps the disc rigid under pressure, resisting flex and loading during extended use. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, or metalworking trades commonly encounter this disc in prep work on stainless steel pipe, fittings, and structural components.
This disc is designed for use with handheld disc sanders equipped with a Type S or TS (Type II) quick-change arbor. It is well suited for deburring, cleaning, and detailing work on a broad range of metals including 300 and 400 series stainless steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, and titanium. The rigid backing and coarse grit make it most effective on flat or slightly contoured surfaces where consistent stock removal is the goal. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 50 units.
Designed for use with handheld disc sanders equipped with a Type S or TS (Type II) quick-change mounting system. Compatible material applications as stated by the manufacturer include 300 Series Stainless, 400 Series Stainless, Aluminum, Brass, Bronze, Hard Carbon Steels, Soft Carbon Steels, and Titanium.
Always confirm the tool spindle speed meets or exceeds the disc maximum RPM rating before mounting. Inspect the quick-change button and arbor for wear or damage before each use and replace worn components. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment including eye protection and gloves when operating abrasive discs. Follow applicable ANSI B7 safety standards for abrasive product handling and use.
