At 1-1/2 inches in diameter and 40 grit, it falls in the extra-coarse grade range, making it suited for aggressive material removal, deburring, and surface preparation. The disc uses aluminum oxide abrasive bonded to a rigid, Y-weight, 2-ply cloth and polyester backing. This construction supports high-speed operation up to 30,000 RPM. This disc is rated for use on 300 and 400 series stainless steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, and titanium. It is part of the Merit R766 series, which is built around an X-weight backing for durability under repeated flex and pressure. Typical applications include weld seam cleanup, edge deburring, light blending, and surface conditioning work in fabrication shops, maintenance environments, and light industrial settings.
