The MERIT ABRASIVES 66254441300 is a 3-inch quick-change abrasive disc designed for surface finishing and blending on metal and composite workpieces. It uses aluminum oxide grain bonded into a high-loft nylon and polyester non-woven web, delivering consistent cut with a smear-free finish. The Type R Power-Lock attaching system mounts the disc directly to compatible quick-change mandrels without tools. Rated to 20,000 RPM, the disc is graded Very Fine and suited to finish passes, light deburring, and surface prep where scratch pattern control matters. Clean Bond resin technology resists loading on soft and hard metals alike.
This disc is built for die grinders, inline grinders, straight grinders, and handheld disc sanders used in metal fabrication, aerospace prep, and maintenance grinding. Approved material applications include 300 and 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, super alloys, titanium, and fiberglass or composite panels. The flexible non-woven construction conforms to contoured surfaces, making it useful for weld blending, pre-weld prep, and interpass cleaning where a rigid bonded disc would leave deep scratches.
Compatible with die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders equipped with a Type R quick-change mandrel. Suitable for use on 300 series stainless, 400 series stainless, fiberglass and composites, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, super alloys, titanium, and tool steels.
Installation is performed by pressing the disc onto a Type R quick-change mandrel until the locking button seats. Verify the mandrel and grinder are rated to at least 20,000 RPM before mounting the disc. Disconnect the tool from its power source or air supply before changing discs. Inspect the disc for tears or unraveling before each use and do not use a damaged disc.
