The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834167111 is a 2-inch coated quick-change abrasive disc designed for aggressive material removal and surface finishing in demanding trade and industrial applications. Built on a heavy Y-weight polyester backing, the disc uses a zirconia alumina abrasive grain at 80 grit for fast, consistent cutting action. It is rated to 30,000 RPM and features a Power-Lock Type 3 (TR/Type III) attachment system for tool-free disc changes on compatible handheld disc sanders. The self-lubricating treatment in the abrasive blend reduces heat buildup during prolonged grinding, extending disc life and reducing workpiece discoloration.
This disc is suited for stock removal, weld blending, and deburring tasks across a wide range of materials. Compatible materials include 300 Series Stainless, 400 Series Stainless, Aluminum, Brass, Bronze, Fiberglass and Composites, Hard Carbon Steels, Soft Carbon Steels, Hard Woods, and Soft Woods. The flexible construction allows the disc to conform to slightly contoured surfaces, making it useful in fabrication shops, metal finishing operations, and woodworking environments where a rigid disc would leave uneven contact. It is designed for use with handheld disc sanders accepting the Type R attaching system.
Designed for handheld disc sanders equipped with a Type R attaching system and accepting Power-Lock Type 3 (TR/Type III) quick-change discs. Installation and disc changes should be performed with the sander powered off and disconnected from its power source. Align the disc hub with the tool mandrel and engage the Power-Lock mechanism fully before operation. Verify that the tool's rated RPM does not exceed the disc's 30,000 RPM maximum before use. Inspect the disc for tears, delamination, or damage before each use and replace if any defects are present.
