The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834167110 is a 2-inch zirconia alumina quick-change disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal and wood surfaces. Running on a Type R Power-Lock attachment system, this disc seats and releases quickly on compatible handheld disc sanders without tools. At 60 grit medium grade, it delivers fast stock removal while the heavy Y-weight polyester backing resists tearing and flexing under load. A self-lubricating treatment in the abrasive blend reduces heat buildup and extends disc life during sustained grinding operations. Licensed trades and fabricators working on stainless, carbon steel, aluminum, and non-ferrous metals will find this disc sized for tight corners and pipe work.
This disc is built for weld blending, deburring, and surface prep across a wide range of materials. It carries an R887D series designation and is rated for materials including 300 and 400 series stainless steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, hard and soft carbon steels, fiberglass and composites, and hard and soft woods. The 2-inch diameter suits close-quarters grinding where larger discs cannot reach. It is intended for use in handheld disc sander applications and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 100 units.
Designed for use with handheld disc sanders equipped with a Type R Power-Lock quick-change hub. Compatible materials include 300 series stainless, 400 series stainless, aluminum, brass, bronze, fiberglass and composites, hard and soft carbon steels, hard woods, and soft woods.
Install and remove by pressing the disc onto a Type R Power-Lock mandrel and twisting to lock or release. Always verify the tool's free-speed RPM does not exceed 30,000 RPM before mounting the disc. Wear eye protection and appropriate PPE when grinding or deburring metal. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and discard any disc showing tears, cuts, or separation at the hub.
