The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834167074 is a 3-inch coated quick-change abrasive disc built for aggressive stock removal on metal and wood surfaces. It uses a zirconia alumina abrasive grain, which is self-sharpening and maintains cutting efficiency throughout the disc life. The 50-grit coarse grade makes it well-suited for weld blending, deburring, and rapid material removal. Backed by a Y-weight polyester cloth with a waterproof construction, this disc handles demanding grind cycles without premature breakdown. It attaches via a Type S Power-Lock system compatible with TS Type II quick-change holders, and is rated to 20,000 RPM for safe use on handheld disc sanders. Licensed tradespeople and fabricators in metal finishing and woodworking shops rely on this format for repeatable, fast disc swaps.
This disc is designed for use with handheld disc sanders equipped with a TS Type II quick-change attaching system. Its semi-open coat minimizes loading, making it effective across a range of materials including 300 and 400 Series stainless steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, hard and soft carbon steels, and hard and soft woods. It is well-suited for both fabrication shops and field service environments where frequent disc changes and consistent cut rates are required. The disc is flexible, which allows it to conform to contoured or irregular surfaces without sacrificing abrasive contact.
Compatible with handheld disc sanders using TS Type II (Type S) quick-change attaching systems. Rated for use on 300 Series Stainless, 400 Series Stainless, Aluminum, Brass, Bronze, Hard Carbon Steels, Soft Carbon Steels, Hard Woods, and Soft Woods.
Inspect the quick-change holder and backing pad for damage before mounting the disc. Ensure the attaching button is fully seated and locked before operating the sander. Do not exceed the 20,000 RPM maximum speed rating under any operating condition. Eye protection, gloves, and appropriate respiratory PPE should be worn during grinding and deburring operations per applicable shop safety standards.
