The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834166476 is a 1-inch diameter quick-change disc designed for surface finishing and light material removal on metal and composite substrates. It uses aluminum oxide abrasive grain on a flexible, non-woven polyester and nylon web backing. The disc is rated at a maximum of 40,000 RPM and attaches via a TS (Type II) Type S quick-change system, making tool-free disc swaps fast during production work. It is graded Very Fine, suited for finishing passes rather than aggressive stock removal. Fabricators, welders, and metal finishing technicians are the primary users of this disc type.
This disc is used in light grinding, blending, and surface conditioning applications across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The supplier lists compatible material applications as 300 Series Stainless, 400 Series Stainless, Fiberglass and Composites, Hard Carbon Steels, Soft Carbon Steels, Super Alloys, Titanium, and Tool Steels. Compatible machines include die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders. The small 1-inch diameter makes it well-suited for tight access areas, weld seams, and detail finishing work where larger discs cannot reach.
Designed for use with TS (Type II) Type S quick-change tools including die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders. Compatible material applications include 300 Series Stainless, 400 Series Stainless, Fiberglass and Composites, Hard Carbon Steels, Soft Carbon Steels, Super Alloys, Titanium, and Tool Steels.
Installation is performed by metal fabricators and finishing technicians using compatible quick-change grinders. Ensure the tool spindle speed does not exceed the disc maximum of 40,000 RPM before mounting. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and never use a disc that is torn or deformed. Follow applicable ANSI B7 safety standards for abrasive disc use and wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves.
