The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834166407 is a TS (Type II) quick-change abrasive disc designed for surface preparation and finishing work on metal and composite materials. Measuring 1.5 inches in diameter, this non-woven disc uses aluminum oxide grain bonded with Clean Bond resin technology to deliver a smear-free finish and a higher cut rate than standard abrasive discs. The polyester and nylon web backing provides a high-loft construction that extends disc life under repeated use. Rated at 30,000 RPM, it is sized for die grinders, inline grinders, straight grinders, and handheld disc sanders used by fabricators, machinists, and metal finishing technicians.
This disc is built for coarse-grade material removal on demanding workpiece materials including 300 and 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, and fiberglass or composite surfaces. The Type S attaching system provides a fast, secure mount without requiring an additional backing pad adapter compatible with TS-style quick-change systems. It fits typical shop and field applications where a compact 1.5-inch disc is required to access tight geometries or confined weld zones.
Compatible with die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders equipped with a TS (Type II) quick-change interface. Suitable for use on 300 series stainless, 400 series stainless, fiberglass and composites, hard and soft carbon steels, super alloys, titanium, and tool steels.
Installation is performed by a machinist, fabricator, or metal finishing technician using a die grinder or straight grinder fitted with a TS-style quick-change mandrel. Before mounting or removing the disc, power down the tool and disconnect it from its air or electrical supply. Verify the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 30,000 RPM rating marked on the disc. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and do not use a disc that shows tears, delamination, or backing separation.
