The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834166396 is a 2-inch quick-change abrasive disc designed for precision surface finishing and blending on metal and composite materials. Built with aluminum oxide grain bonded to a non-woven nylon fiber backing, it delivers a smooth cut rate and a uniform finish without aggressive stock removal. The flexible non-woven construction conforms to contoured surfaces and resists tearing under repeated use. Rated to 30,000 RPM, this disc is well-suited for die grinders and inline or straight grinders used in fabrication, weld blending, and surface prep applications. Installation requires a compatible Type S or TS (Type II) quick-change mandrel.
This disc is intended for professional use on a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials including 300 and 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, super alloys, titanium, and fiberglass or composite substrates. Compatible machines include die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders. The fine grade rating makes it appropriate for finish blending and light deburring rather than heavy material removal. It is commonly used in metal fabrication shops, aerospace maintenance, and structural welding operations where surface finish consistency matters.
Compatible with die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders equipped with a Type S or TS (Type II) quick-change mandrel system. Suitable for use on 300 series stainless, 400 series stainless, fiberglass and composites, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, super alloys, titanium, and tool steels.
Install this disc onto a compatible Type S quick-change mandrel following the mandrel manufacturer's torque and seating instructions. Verify the spindle RPM rating of the tool does not exceed 30,000 RPM before operation. Wear appropriate eye protection and inspect the disc for damage before each use. Disc replacement and mandrel service should follow applicable ANSI B7 abrasive safety standards.
