The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834166394 is a 2-inch quick-change abrasive disc designed for surface conditioning, blending, and finishing on metal and composite materials. It uses aluminum oxide grain bonded with resin to deliver a smooth cut rate and a consistent, uniform finish pass after pass. The non-woven nylon fiber construction is laminated to a tough flexible backing that resists tearing under load. Rated to 30,000 RPM, this disc mounts via a Type S attaching system and is compatible with TS (Type II) quick-change tooling. It is sold individually and suited for use by metal fabricators, pipe fitters, and maintenance technicians working in shop or field settings.
This disc is intended for surface prep, deburring, and finishing applications across a wide range of metals and composites. Rated material applications include 300 Series Stainless, 400 Series Stainless, Fiberglass/Composites, Hard Carbon Steels, Soft Carbon Steels, Super Alloys, Titanium, and Tool Steels. The coarse grade makes it effective for aggressive stock removal and initial surface conditioning before finer finishing steps. Its small 2-inch diameter and flexible backing allow it to work in tight radii and contoured surfaces where rigid discs cannot reach.
Compatible with die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders equipped with TS (Type II) quick-change mandrels using a Type S attaching system.
Installation is performed by trade professionals or skilled technicians using die grinders or straight grinders rated for the disc speed. Confirm the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 30,000 RPM maximum disc rating before mounting. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and never use a disc that shows tears, delamination, or hub damage. Wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable ANSI B11 and OSHA abrasive wheel safety requirements during operation.
