The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834166367 is a non-woven aluminum oxide quick-change disc designed for surface finishing, blending, and light deburring on metal and composite substrates. Built to a Very Fine grade, it uses a high-loft nylon fiber construction bonded with Clean Bond resin technology to deliver smear-free finishes without loading or glazing the workpiece. The polyester and nylon web backing provides flexibility for contour work, and the disc is rated to 30,000 RPM. At 1.5 inches in diameter, it fits compact die grinders, inline grinders, and handheld disc sanders. The TR (Type III) quick-change attaching system allows fast disc swaps without tools. Installation is performed by licensed tradespeople and metalworkers in fabrication, maintenance, and finishing applications.
This disc is suited for use on 300 and 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, super alloys, titanium, and fiberglass or composite materials. Its flexible non-woven construction makes it especially useful where a rigid abrasive would leave visible scratches or damage surface integrity. Typical applications include weld blending, pre-inspection surface prep, and final finishing passes in sheet metal fabrication, aerospace component maintenance, and industrial MRO environments. Compatible machines include die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders.
Compatible with TR (Type III) and Type R quick-change mandrels. Designed for use with die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders. Suitable for material applications including 300 Series Stainless, 400 Series Stainless, Fiberglass and Composites, Hard Carbon Steels, Soft Carbon Steels, Super Alloys, Titanium, and Tool Steels.
Verify the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 30,000 RPM disc rating before mounting. Power down and disconnect the grinder from its power source before changing discs. Thread the disc onto a compatible TR or Type R mandrel until fully seated, and confirm it is secure before resuming operation. Always wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when operating grinding and finishing equipment.
