The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834166319 is a 3-inch non-woven aluminum oxide quick-change disc designed for surface conditioning, blending, and finishing on metal and composite substrates. It uses a Type S (Power-Lock Type 2) attaching system for fast, tool-free disc changes on compatible quick-change tools. The disc features a coarse-grade aluminum oxide grain coating bonded to a flexible polyester and nylon web backing. Maximum operating speed is 20,000 RPM. The Clean Bond resin technology helps deliver smear-free finishes, and the high-loft nylon fiber construction extends disc service life under repeated use. Installed by machinists, fabricators, and metalworkers in production and maintenance environments.
This disc is suited for moderate material removal and surface conditioning on 300 and 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, super alloys, titanium, and fiberglass or composite materials. It mounts on die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders equipped with a Type S quick-change hub. The flexible backing allows the disc to conform to contoured surfaces, making it useful for weld blending, deburring, and pre-finishing operations where consistent surface contact is required.
Compatible with die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders fitted with a Type S quick-change hub. Suitable for use on 300 Series Stainless, 400 Series Stainless, Fiberglass and Composites, Hard Carbon Steels, Soft Carbon Steels, Super Alloys, Titanium, and Tool Steels.
Installation is performed by machinists or metal fabricators using a Type S quick-change hub — no tools required to mount or remove the disc. Before mounting, confirm the grinder or sander is powered off and unplugged or air supply is disconnected. Never exceed the 20,000 RPM maximum speed rating marked on the disc. Inspect the disc for tears, delamination, or damage before each use and discard any disc that shows signs of deterioration.
