The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834166290 is a 2-inch quick-change abrasive disc designed for surface preparation and finishing on metal and composite substrates. Built on a polyester backing with a non-woven, high-loft nylon fiber construction, this disc uses aluminum oxide abrasive grain bonded with Clean Bond resin technology to deliver smear-free finishes and a higher cut rate than standard coated discs. It is rated for a maximum of 30,000 RPM and uses a TR (Type III) quick-change attachment system compatible with Type R mandrels. The medium grade makes it well suited for moderate material removal and surface conditioning in fabrication, maintenance, and repair applications.
This disc is intended for use with die grinders, inline grinders, straight grinders, and handheld disc sanders. It is designed for work on 300 series stainless, 400 series stainless, soft and hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, and fiberglass and composites. The Merit Surface Prep series targets trade professionals in metal fabrication, industrial maintenance, and mechanical service who need a consistent, controlled finish without loading or smearing on sensitive alloy surfaces.
Compatible with die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders equipped with a Type R quick-change mandrel. Rated for use on 300 series stainless, 400 series stainless, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, and fiberglass and composites.
Install and remove only with the machine powered off and the air supply disconnected or the trigger locked out. Seat the disc fully onto the Type R mandrel before operation and verify the mandrel nut or retainer is secure. Do not exceed the 30,000 RPM maximum speed rating. Inspect the disc for tears, delamination, or wear before each use and replace if damage is found.
